T. A. plays very, very nicely this original piece.
he did not explain, that he uses an alternative stringing, preferred for continuo playing (by a good reason). the pieces of the "theorbo pioneers" (Kapsb., Pic., Cast.) should work (and resonate) best with 8 diatonic diapasons and 6 stopped strings, but the alternative 7 + 7 stringing gives more possibilities to play chromatic bass lines, and, such it is helpful for performing the contiuno parts for later baroque pieces. i saw this for the first time at vivaldi's four seasons performed by tafelmusik. i only say the body of the instrument at first and thought it was a lute. When the musician picked it up i FREAKED OUT. Coolest instrument and very beautiful too if i might add.

Very interesting video. "Chitarrone" was created in Italy when they were able to do beautiful things in my Country . This age is over many centuries ago. Now we have an ugly instrument playing every day: Berlusconi :-))
