Having snapped a couple of hinges on my foam F-35 with a few rough landings in the grass, I decided to replace them at the field like this.
The zip ties are strong. On short surfaces like this, you can put one at each end with no problems.
Make sure to use Foam Save Super glue and Accelerator. (E Flite) http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EFLA208

The F-35 is from Nitroplanes.

Happy flying and good luck.

  • Dave I am so glad you did this - I just used the info in this video to fix my new PZ P-51 Gunfighter rudder, which comes really weak from the factory. After a crash it needed real repair and this did the trick.

I made a video to help other P-51 guys and gave you credit! You can see it on my site.

Thanks again, Dave! 5 stars always.

  • Thanks for the kind words. I am glad it worked for you.

    Ill look at your vid.

  • What do you do with all the glow sticks?

  • Fly in the dark. See my latest video on Nightflying to see them in action.

  • Finally an intelligent design! Much better than the old reinforced tape and hot glue I have seen other RC guys use.

  • Thanks very much. I appreciate your comments.
