My friend Drake shot this video of the first test recordings of the Bechstein. I put the video together using the recorded sound from my tests. Listen to the clarity of the sound, and imagine this being our next virtual piano, the Bechstein 228. The recording is mostly the "Close" position, and the reverb you hear is the natural sound in the room--the sound is raw with only mild compression on the track.

Jim McGehee, owner of Piano Kraft, has this wonderful new instrument along with many others in their Little Rock, AR store. Stay tuned for more updates on the Bechstein sampling project!

  • Hello Lance, before 3 weeks i bought the librarys of the kawai and a few days later from the academicgrand from arnoud, and i am very very happy with it. There are no such librarys on the market, where the sound is so rich and beauty as these. I know the bechstein will be a new hightlight in piano-sample-librarys. Waiting for the release.

Btw: Second request for: What's the name of the song at 4:35?

    Greetings from germany

    Mirko

  • @zweiterster I'm so happy to hear that you enjoy the piano libraries! This Bechstein will be part of a 3 piano collection to be releases Q1 of 2011. I can't say much about it yet, but I'm sure all customers of AcousticsampleS will be notified via email. And I can tell you, the virtual Bechstein will sound much better than this video.

The tune is a choral SATB arrangement of "The Turtle Dove". I used to accompany choirs in high school, so my memory of it is a bit vague. It's a beautiful tune!

  • Wow, I'm so excited to learn more about the Bechstein ! I already own the Academic Grand, am about to buy the Kawai and now I see you working on a Bechstein...it just gets better and better...I love the sound !

Hey thanks for the compliments about this Bechstein and the Academic and Kawai libraries! The Bechstein is still in the works, but it should just be superb once it's complete. Check back for news on my channel here, and watch for updates sent from AcousticsampleS. Big things are coming :)
