A demonstration of how the SonicProjects VM Bundle can be remotely controlled with a Behringer BCR2000 rotary controller.

http://www.sonicprojects.ch/vmbundle/

The SonicProjects VM Bundle is a package exlusively made for the V-Machine including adapted versions of OP-X and Stringer as well as two effect plugins and pre-configured banks, everything ready to play and with guaranteed rock solid performance even at lowest latencies.

The VM Bundle includes a BCR2000 toolkit that offers a custom MIDI Sysex preset for the BCR2000 that matches the pre-mapped banks of OP-X and Stringer, complete with printable mapping plans for OP-X and Stringer that give an immediate oversight on which function is mapped to what control on the BCR2000.

With MIDI feedback activated in the V-Machine the V-Machine sends a complete parameter dump on preset change to the BCR that updates all controls to the settings of the new preset. So you don't have any annoying value jumps and great optical oversight on the current settings. Of course, if you don't want to rely on your imagination, you can label the BCR controls with the assigned parameter names on the white stripes.

In fact, this setup is even more intuitive than a typical analog synth of the past like OB-X, Prophet 5 or Jupiter 8 which offered a control too for every function, but without the ability to show the settings of the loaded preset. The values only could be blindely "fetched" by tweaking the controls.

The great thing is that you don't need to configure anything at all by yourself or learn paramers manually which would be a big amout of work. Everything is pre-configured and ready to be used.

This setup lets you completely remotely control every single parameter of OP-X and the most important ones of Stringer.

So a setup of V-Machine, a BCR2000 and the SonicProjects VM Bundle can serve as a real hardware subsistute. You can program OP-X as intuitively as a hardware synth, without the need to scroll through menus or reach a mouse.

It's an absolute killer setup, a dream for every keyboard player, offering tremendous sound and a playing and tweaking joy you probably have not experienced before with a software based synth. If you are looking for a rock solid and great sounding stage setup, then this could be the solution you've always looked for. Caution: High obsession potential!

You can check this setup also with the demo version of VM Bundle which includes the BCR2000 Toolkit and the pre-mapped banks, but of course with the demo limitations that include an audio interruption of 12 seconds every 37 seconds and some beeps then and when. The general stability and performance is also not as good as in the full version since there are no separate Non-GUI versions of the plugins to save space. The sound however is exactly the same. • Freakin awsome!

  • @nikwalnikwal thanks :-)

  • How are the v-machine, bcr and the keyboard connected? Are you using the usb for midi between the bcr and v-machine, and a standard midi cable from the keyboard to the midi-in on the v-machine?

  • Yes, exactly :-) It's even possible to additionally connect a second MIDI keyboard by usb at the same time (into the second usb socket), and play on both, while tweaking knobs on bcr - crazy, isn't it? ;-) and it works just perfectly - no drivers, nothing - just plug in and start playing; really great

  • hoo and also do your need the behringer controller for this to work or you can use any other MIDI controller.. thx again

  • No, you can use any controller of course. The Behringer has the advantage that it offers endless rotary controls with LED rings that allow for MIDI feedback, which means the controls always are in the position of the current patch (so no jumps). There are also other devices that offer this, like the Mackie control PRO, or Novation Nocturne. But you also just can use the built in controls of your MIDI keyboard to tweak parameters.
