  • The only one who is using a pumpenvalve vienna horn is on the far right

  • why are there french horns

doesnt the WPO use wiener horns

  • Basso basso !!

  • Thank you for sharing, you added another layer of depth to this piece for me! A celesta and harp harmonics, I almost want to chuckle at the sheer ingenuity.

  • The violins aren't the ones producing that particular sound. The pizzicato is on a very high pitch, giving a biting sound, especially so for the violas where the pitch is essentially at the absolute top of their range. Stravinsky has a flute and piccolo playing fluttertongue over this which gives that interesting "rusty echo" sound. The bell sound, which does not sound at the same time as the pizzicato, comes from the celesta coupled with a harp playing harmonics. Very creative scoring!

  • lol wiener

  • Than you Karlyn to allow us to hear this beautiful Stravinski ' s piece .

  • is the english horn in the wiener philharmoniker modified to have the same key system as the wiener oboe?

  • that would drive me crazy conducting with no baton, lol.
