It's no more like either of those shows, that Angel was like FireFly. It's very much it's own beast.

That said, it does carry all the Whedon hallmarks of quality that you'll have come to know & love from Buffy / Angel / Firefly.

It actually would be a more audience friendly show if it added some Alias-ness , in order to give people an entry point into the more complesx issues of the show
