Johnny Astro Original Commercial Superb 8mm Sound Film Transfer

Before Xbox, before PacMan, before the Ipad, there was Johnny Astro!!! Kids actually had fun in those days with cool toys like this. This is unbelievable high quality film of the original "Johnny Astro" commercial. And yes, it was Super8 Sound film stock. It was a little faded, but our newish DUI DaVinci grabbed a hold of what color was left and allowed us to render this spot for the world to see. Almost as good as some of the 16mm films we transfer. My dad was in importing in Australia during the sixties, he got me one of these, never saw anyone else in my life have one here. It was the best toy I ever had, worked brilliantly.

The only toy my parents bought me that I requested based on seeing a commercial. And they got it to teach me a lesson. I imagined that I would direct it up the staircase and hover over my brother's bed, carry payloads etc. It was just a fan with a ballon and you could only control it in a very narrow cone!

That lesson made this was one of the most valuable gifts I ever got.
