She probably pulled its ear to make it listen, just like you would smack a horse with a crop or the reins when it isnt paying attention to you. The donkey was obviously used to being ridden, or she would have fallen off way sooner. These little guys are strong, she is not too big, and she obviously smacked it on the butt to get it to go, just like you would a horse. She just wasnt ready for such a take off! Leave her alone. She did fine.
