The Rentals - Friends of P

On NPR three or four months ago, there was this story on a one hit wonder from the 90's, and the whole story was about how old their fans were now and how they still did shows. Anyway, I forgot the band's name, and even the name of their song. Trying to find by searching through all these 90's one hit wonders is fun. The 90's had some good ones that didn't suck so much. This is a really good song.

No. The "P" stands for Pat; Pat Wilson, the drummer of Weezer. Pats even in the background. Its a song dedicated to him from Matt sharp? Don't quote me on that but I know the "P" is for Pat.

Try friends of Paulina Porizkova, Ric Ocasek's wife, who is often referred to as 'P' among her circle of friends. Ocasek pretty much produced all of Weezer's commercially successful albums.

But this is a great song. The story that they came up with is that The Rentals members all grew up in the USSR and their only exposure to American style pop music was thru Randy Newman albums, lol. That would suck.

Who says Insomniac is underappreciated? I can't stand Green Day (generally), but I love Insomniac. It's just a great album. Every song on it rocks. Most of the people that I know (that are familiar with Green Day's work) agree. Even those like me, that hate Green Day. I don't know, maybe it is largely unappreciated, but not by everyone. Some of us dig it :)

Yeah, I remember that, too. When this song came out I was studying the Russian language (I need to pick that back up, it was awesome), and I thought this vid was amazing, just because the Russian was more or less dead-on accurate. I wonder who these guys knew to translate for them? God, I was like 13 when this came out....I feel old.
