For me Alanis's music and songwriting is passionate and so connective because she's not giving you the opportunity to say "wow that's exactly how I feel - this is the song that would explain who I am"..... its because most of us who couldn't figure out just why we stayed constantly disappointed... THAT for me is what she is expressing. Putting words to the feeling that nags us we can't ever truly understand. Because the power to not abandon YOURSELF does not lie with ANYONE ELSE its SELF worth
