@khatun1000, well, it is about personal choice. However, our own choices are for us, of course. Yet, being mixed is not something one can control if he is born that way. In other words, you should bare in mind that NOT ALL people who are mixed are happy with it.
You are white. If you and your non-white partner break up, then you continue to be white, and it still works as an advantage in the Western society. Mixed children sometimes reject the culture of one parent. Each case is unique.

@sandinyourshoes Now I´m single, but if we were together I would love mixed children the same I would love white children.
And about my colour, I´m white.
-
@khatun1000, do you two plan to marry and have children? Like the people of the UK, not all Spaniards are white. Which color are you?
-
@sandinyourshoes Yes, everyone does notice race, but also everyone notices hair colour. The first thing we say when speaking about somebody is ´the blond girl´ or `the asian man`. But it does not mean that people must be classified into one ethnicity; if you are mixed, you have two heritages and I think you can be proud of both.
And, by the way, I am a Spaniard and I´ve dated a black man from Africa. We are not a couple yet, but race was not the problem.
-
@khatun1000, everyone I have met or observed DOES notice race. However, it is not automatically racist to notice it. A white man in Africa sticks out. Why would he not? It is just how it is.
Are you sure about that issue being easier in Spain? Would a black man get around there easily? Would a Spaniard openly date a black person AND marry one, too? I have never seen it.
-
@sandinyourshoes You may be right; I don´t know if in America you have problems if you are mixed, but here in Spain, where I live, if you are a halfie it´s O.K. and no one asks you if you are really white or not.
I think you can feel part of your mother side and your father´s without identity issues.
-
@khatun1000, no, it is not always that easy. That is what you would hear on The Disney Channel. In real life, if you LOOK fully Chinese but claim your white side constantly, even if you do have it, then people often feel you are not comfortable with your Chinese background. All this, "Oh, I am English and Irish, too" is a tough sell in that situation. Some would find it quite laughable.
-
@sandinyourshoes The looking is not important. If she belongs to two cultures, she is lucky. She can have both worlds.
