Formerly the most valuable appraisal to ever appear on the U.S. broadcast of the Antiques Roadshow, but knocked into 2nd place in January 2009, and then into 3rd place in January 2010. This hand-woven Navajo Ute First Phase wearing blanket is a representation of the very beginnings of Navajo textile creation. This national treasure sat on the back of a chair for generations.

  • @tamerseeker It's not just "a blanket," it's a hand-woven Ute Navajo textile that was woven nearly 150 years ago. Without the aid of machines, or commercial dies, or modern tools of any kind. And yet, it was woven with such care and skill that, even today, it can repel water without the need for chemical protection.

    Yeah, just a blanket!

  • @YourMainEventer Thanks for sharing. You're a really cool, funny, and important person, and we care about your thoughts and feelings.

  • @ushmo10 I imagine Antiques collectors would find whichever shows you watch as boring

  • @EphemeralVampire It's okay. It repels water.

  • ahw, 1:30 i just realised there is no painting behind that curtain

  • I got teary eyed watching this

  • I saw this when it aired on TV.

  • You know, if I was on the show and a guy said, This item is worth a hundred thousand dollars - I am pretty sure I would reply, "Wow! Tell you what, give me 50 thousand up front, it's all yours and you keep the rest!"

  • @nosebuzz007 With all due respect.. Ted owned the blanket for many years.I'm sure someone along the way told him it may have some value. No better place than the Roadshow to find out. If he really knew it could be worth a half a million..he really does deserve an Oscar for his reaction. :)

  • don't cry too close to the blanket...

  • @lennomenno ted deserves smotherd with that blanket, hes letting on he didnt know was worth a fortune...
