  • Everything about this movie is brilliant. The score, the dialogue, and the acting. Julie Harris is at her best when she scolds her sister in the living room scene, just before she takes the car also in the creepy bedroom scene when she comforts Claire Bloom, who is so sexy in the movie. The lore of the story keeps your interest and the credible story line scares the heck out of you, if you were born in the fifties, like me and first saw it as a teen. Imaginations were much keener then.

  • One of the best Haunted House movies of all time!

That scene with the door inhaling and exhaling gives me chills and so does the face on the wall. From good acting and a well paced story, this film perfected the Haunted House movie. 4 stars out of 4.

    Thanks for uploading this trailer.

  • I saw this movie. At the end elonore goes crazy and tries to ascape and runs into a tree with her car and dies and that's how it ends when they find her body

  • Most intelligent horror movie ever made.

  • Things that must be scary as hell at that time.

    (Hey he's Amber Tamblyn's dad!)

  • This is a fantastic ghost story.

Robert Wise really knows how to scare us without intending to do so.

Half of the time, you can't tell what was really ghosts, or what was in Elenor's poor demented mind.

The remake however sucks donkey balls.

Thumbs up if you think Robert Wise is one of the best directors, if not THE best, of all time and Jan-de-bont (Twister) is one of the worst, if not THE worst, directors of all time.

  • @MrMusic995 *The face on the wall

  • The on the wall scene is the scariest thing ever filmed...and "The Haunting" is probably the best horror film ever.

  • Haven't you noticed how nothing in this house seems to move until you look away and then you just... catch something out of the corner of your eye?

  • The scariest ghost film of all time.

  • We need more movies like this one. A perfect horror film in every way.

  • I watched this when I was young and it scared the hell out of me. Wise doesn't show the audience a damn thing and rightfully so, as he knows that not seeing whatever it is, that is making those sounds is 90 percent of the scare, the other 10 percent is the sound. It's whats behind that door that is so damn scary. Brilliant film one of my top ten
