Demonstration of Intel vPro technology with System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 in Microsoft Management Summit 2008 keynote done by Brad Anderson, General Manager of Microsoft Management and Services Division, and Dave Randall, Microsoft Program Manager for System Center Configuration Manager. They showed off the secure power control capabilities of Intel vPro technology by shutting off a collection of 20 PCs with Intel vPro technology during Brad's keynote. Further, Dave went through a remote diagnosis and repair scenario from System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 using Intel vPro technology's Serial Over LAN (SOL) capability.
Dell has been doing this with their servers for ages. And on their desktops.

I have this motherboard and processor in my computer at home. I didn't even know what vPro is. I can't see that it is useful to me because I dont have the remove administation tools anyway :)

I assume this works over the ethernet? What technology does it use to communicate between the machines - I assume it isnt TCP/IP but something at a lower level. Would this generate network traffic?
