CHAN:
Jharia was the richest coal mining town in India. Now underground fires have turned it into a ghost town. Here's more on the story.
STORY:
Subterranean fires in the Indian coal mining town of Jharia has lead to a mass evacution, turning the once rich coal mining community into a ghost town.
Local say that despite the extensive work done by scientists no concrete
steps have been taken to douse the fire.
The few remaining people in the town have been living under constant threat of eviction and are unhappy with the government's relocation efforts.
[SHAJAHA BEGAM, LOCAL]:
" We are very scared and living under constant threat. We want the
government to take some steps to relocate us. Though there have been several
assurances on relocation, nothing has been done so far from the government
side."
The government meanwhile is engaged in the process of relocating the people to save them from hazardous living conditions.
[R.B. CHAKRABORTY, DEPUTY DIRECTO MINES SAFTEY]:
"Several people have been already shifted, but generally local people are resisting the
move. This is not surprising but we are trying to convince them so that they
move." Schools and colleges have been shut down and relocated.
The township has been reeling from the impact of subterranean fires since 1923.

Why do their odds seem slim? Because we have an out-of-control criminal government bankrupting the entire country?
Are you talking about Centralia or India? People are their own sovereigns, let them live where they want
People have some strange ideas about what nature should be. As if humans should "control" everything, and nature should always be pretty and green. Nature is what it is. We humans should of course, alter nature for our own benefit, but even so, we can't do everything

I'm not arguing that point!
I'm just saying that it is the same situation.

To Scardy:
The coal fires don't care that there's towns above them. It's a natural phenonomen anyway, and still they can't be controlled.
I do care about the people, but people are their own sovereigns. If the people wish to move elsewhere, I think treat it like taking land for a necessary road, government or applicable coal company recompense people for lost land, help move them elsewhere. Or if they refuse to leave, don't evict them. It's their right to live pretty much where they want.

Nobody is saying anything about that here. Get off your soapbox.

What has that got to do with ANYTHING in this video or that I've said?

No, you fool! They both are towns with underground fires!
That's the comparison! Gods! What is with you?

To Scardy:
Why do so many poor people live in tiny little shacks or slums? Because they are poor? I think there's more to it.
The government is supposed to support the rule of law, without respect of persons. Gov is supposed to treat everybody equally, fairly, not picking winners or losers. Punish evil-doers, build roads and bridges. And yet government does everything BUT. Gov sides with rich to steal people's land.
Poor can't build nice homes, because they are denied title to land, evicted.

I like a little bit of air conditioning. Not too much. I can't even wear shorts pants much in the summertime anymore, because public buildings and stores are so cold like walk-in refrigerators
I like the "artificial" conditioned environments we have in buildings and our homes. But who says humans must tame all of nature? We can't tame just our portion of where we live, our homes and maybe our yards?
Gov and elites cheat the poor. Steal their land, pay too little, manipulate, deceive

As much as I say I like things NATURAL, I do and I don't. I believe humans should reproduce naturally, meaning no sex before marriage, no unnatural "birth control" after marriage. I don't like ugly tattoos nor bizarre body piercing. All are mutilation of the body, for no good reason, and go against nature. I don't smoke nor drink alcohol.
And yet I don't really like the outdoors. Too cold, too hot, too wet, too windy, too much getting sunburned or ate up by mosquitoes. I like A/C.

So is every natural rumbling volcano, Centralia all over again? Sorry, I just don't see Centralia as the standard to compare all others with
Perhaps the people in Centralia, aren't quite convinced that everything is all messed up. I say government is even more "all messed up." Ever rising taxes, for what? Ever less liberty?
We can't kick people out. People pretty much have a right to live wherever they want, especially if already living there. Maybe some people like old ghost towns?
