This little buzz-bomber spent about 10 minutes in a water glass, demonstrating terrible fliers Houseflies really are! It crashes, head-first, into the glass and just bounces right off. It's a wonder they live long enough to reproduce!
This footage was shot with a Casio EX-F1 at 600 and 1200 frames per second, hence the grainy, low resolution.
The music is "Spring II" from the "Digital Dreaming" CD by Technician (experimental music recorded in 1989).
I was surprised to see that too - just the fact that they have any sort of control at all at those speeds is pretty amazing. My slow motion "flies on sh!t" vid (watch?v=FlgrBeGX8w0) really shows some cool fly aerobatics too..
Thanks for stopping by! =)

Flies are actually excellent flyers, but to them glass, is like an invisible forcefield so they think there is nothing there, so that's why the stumble around in the glass.
