Such a shame that Joe passed away...

@eqsmooth I also witnessed Omar on the same tour with Sting in 85...it changed my perception of drumming. One of the true greats.

@italiarovinata I must admit that after I saw Omar Hakim in 1985 w/Sting on the singer's his first solo tour my whole attitude toward drumming was changed. Omar was so good as a band member simply supporting the singer and then he started his famous solo building into this brilliant crescendo. If anyone saw him on that tour or at that venue Berkeley's Greek Theatre they will recall that memorable moment. He has an ethereal Cobham like quality to him as he weaves in and out of the musical trance.
