If you consider how many seniors who die of pneumonia-like symptoms when they go to the hospital for other reasons, you begin to understand what happens to the human body when it can no longer do what it is supposed to do. The heart and lungs are no longer strong enough to prevent congestive defects. Unfortunately, he prematurely aged his own life support system.

Be that from heart failure, pneumonia, cancer, drug-related causes, I have heard the term 'acute respiratory failure' which from what I understand can 'come out of nowhere' but I'm not sure if the edema is a factor in that. Any respiratory techs on board here?
