@Care4URchameleon Are you saying if I want to keep a small roach colony I should start off with 2 adult males and 2 adult females then to maintain the colony with 3 females per 1 male to avoid fighting? Or would 1:3 to start off with will be enough to keep it small still? Then just feed it young roaches? I'm just trying to combine both suggestions. Great video by the way.

High protein, lots of water, and the correct ratio of males to females 1:5 or 1:10 will prevent males fighting and dying.

HI! thanks for the video! amazing chameleon.subscribed:)
I wanted to ask you if i can feed these, well the nymps to my baby chameleon?
Can i use the dubias instead of crickets?( hate crickets) i want to get rid of crickets completely.
Do you use only dubias as a staple diet?
If you do, how long have you been feeding them to your chameleon?
Thanks!!

Aawesome video man, hopefully I can start a culture soon, however, do you need the heat lamp with the night bulb, can you not just have a heat mat on the bottom keeping the whole cage expept for, a little cool spot 90 degrees?

can they fly?
Great video!
I only have one Ceratophrys cranwelli frog for now. Is it possible to have only a very small culture producing only something like 20-30 roaches a month? Thanks!

Thanks SuperMegalosaurus!
Of course it's possible! Simply buy a smaller amount of adults.
2 adult females and 2 adult males. But, sooner or later you will need to either sell the extra ones you have or buy another herp to feed! hehe

I got a 500 roach colony a few days ago. Most of them a re nymphs buy I got some adults too. Today, I found 5 ADULT MALES dead. One had its lower abdomen torn. WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENED. Why were only males dead? dO THEY DIE AFTER MATING?

@pufycino
Adult males don't live as long as females. Also, males tend to naturally eat eachother, I am guessing "natural instinct". I have seen plenty of males with their wings teared apart.
When purchasing specifically adults, I suggest a ratio of 3 female per 1 male.
