Para empezar, Kosovo no es reconocido por el país de quien declaró independencia, a diferencia de Sudán del Sur, que fue idependiente cuando Sudán lo decidió. Asimismo, Kosovo tiene reconocimiento limitado, Sudán del Sur solo debe esperar a que todos los miembros de las Naciones Unidas lo reconozcan, Kosovo ni siquiera es miembro de las Naciones Unidas.
