Just like that a voice vote to effectively ban an entire class of weapons. Last I checked the price for some fully automatic firearms is in the tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars range. Definitely should have taken a recorded vote.

A gross misjudgment, indeed take the at least take the flag down if you pass it. But now isn't a good time. To respond to a dirty trick one must play dirty. Once the Arizona business blows over and the Republicans are in house after Obama, then we take it to court.

Who can be heard in the background saying, "Let it go. You got it, let it go"?
Why didn't Rep. Rangel recognize the request for a recorded vote on adoption of the Hughes amendment when it was plainly asked for?

They're right, machineguns have no sporting value at all. However that is not the point of owning a machinegun. It is to protect ourselves from the government and from foreign governments and/or invaders. The national firearms act dealt with machineguns in a very clear and effective way. This law is unnecessary and a VERY CLEAR violation of the second amendment. It prohibits individuals from owning post 1986 machine guns but lets the government still have them. This should be taken to court.
