  • Oh, tyvm for that :) I really had some issue of being sexual abuse, physical abuse and other abuse. I'll try that.

  • Thanks, i'm taking notes.

  • @bugeinator Chaging thinking patterns is CBT, and may not be helpful. My own approach is based on Somatic Experiencing, Mindfulness, and focusing.

  • @herbankidd Hi There, I am so sorry by your experience. Take a look at Peter Levine's books, Waking the Tiger, and his second book Healing Trauma, the second book is less technical, and has a self help CD with it. Maybe some expert counselling would help. I am a psychotherapist and have used Somatic Experiencing, ( Peter Levine) Mindfulness and Focusing to help trauma victims. Also Goggle Focusing Institute, to find out more about focusing. Best wishes John

  • Very good advice thank you..

  • can someone help me out? im 18 yrs old male. when i was probably around 7-8 years old i was molested by my own brother. and i believe this experience has caused me to be very unsocial/awkward. im not able to hold a relationship. now that i look back at it each year that goes by im more socially disconnected. i feel isolated in a way. when i look in the mirror, im kind of puzzled by my own reflection. what can i do so i can live a healthy life with healthy relationships?

  • hahaha! This guy is FOS - he's NOT a trauma survivor and there's no mention of the damage to the Hippocampus evident in (real) PTSD.

  • @FaerieLinn Thanks for those nice words. Bill

  • Bill O'Hanlon is the one popular author I have respect for Ten Simple Ways to Change Your Life was the one I remember the most. A truly inspiring person

  • Talk about it only with people you trust.
