  • I think the music is awful! :p

    But great story!

  • I was quite surprised by the music the first time I saw the mini-series, it's quite unusual this kind of music in a period drama based on that times. But after watching it for a second time, I thought this was an excellent music, because it ironizes the characters perfectly, like a circus, Thackeray built a sucession of characters to re-interpret the society of that times, and the music emphasizes that aspect quite well, though it's not very enjoyable, it's ironic, and the same story ^_^

  • even though apparently those who enjoy this music are a minority :(

  • Yeah, I know what you mean =) Some songs here are really good though, for example the two operas (one sung by Becky and another one in a scene with Amelia and Dobbin), it's a perfect soundtrack for this story, quite unusual and difficult to hear the first time, it surprises a lot... I believe this is one of those soundtracks that you don't know if you love it or hate it, it's quite eloquent in some parts, but generally it fits perfect, but for the story, not for your own amusement, I think...

  • this is a fair after all :)

Speaking of the music, I have to check again, but i think the first time we hear Becky sing, she sings one of the themes from the show

  • LOL! Yeah, that's what I thought about the music, this is a fair and if you look into all the characters, they are all quite dummy, except for Becky... She is constantly looking for a position in high society, but at the same time it's brilliant how she tries to go out from that "circle", and Thackeray exagerated the characters a lot to ironize those times... Perhaps is that the main reason the music is quite exagerated too, it acts as a comical character of the play xDD

  • BTW, I love the opera Becky sing nearly the end of this episode, I don't know if Natasha Little really sung it, but her performance is a masterpiece ^_^

  • The music is a very bad variation on Goran Bregović. Well, that at least was my association.

  • I liked the music, it produced some sort of dramatic/comic effect at the same time.

  • I agree, MissAustenLover, the music is great!
