Part 2: Playing by Ear

I wish I could have had her for a teacher in my youth. I play guitar and have played by ear my whole life...put a piece of sheet music in front of me and the most I'll get from it is tempo and key.
She's right about "the pro" ear player.
Most of the time the audience never catches those little mistakes...or so I'm told ( nobody has ever really convinced me of that yet :)
Being an ear player helps you learn how to cover your mistakes and make them sound intentional.

@oyw123 yes and no, its cause she states "in the songs we're starting with" that they are simple enough to be limited to 1-4-5. But plenty of tunes go 1-ii etc, or 1-b7, or 1-iii, or 1-bii, or 1-bvi (harmonic major ftw!) etc etc etc.
If your doing songs like silent night, you'll be ok. If your on a Nobuo Uematsu tune, then watch out :P

How i wish i could have the privileged of learning from her :)

@Ferney1c Its because the most common chords in songs are 1,4 and 5. There are rarely any songs now that goes from C (1) to something other than F (4) or G (5) in the beginning. (There are still some out there that do that though, like the C-A-F-G progression)
Thats what i think. Someone correct me if im wrong

She is just talking about the Major Chords for now.
i dont know her name but shes a really really really good teacher [=
