The war in Afghanistan will stretch beyond thirteen years - according to Washington's top military commander there. What began a decade ago as a mission to get the perpetrators of 9/11, has now transformed into an open-ended hunt for the elusive Taliban. Some former U.S. military officers are disillusioned with the Afghan war. Lieutenant Colonel Karen Kwiatkowski thinks the true aim of the invasion was to create a platform for keeping an eye on - or even invading - other targets.
