I just started this new Human Flag series. I hope you enjoy both this video and the ones soon to come. Thanks.

I've always considered myself to be moderately strong, fit and healthy. I've been into weight-lifting for years; I've competed in many long-distance races, including one marathon at the young age of 16; and I've obtained the rank of Black Belt in Korean martial arts. However, it wasn't until November of 2007--the month I was introduced to the competitors of Japan's famous Sasuke "Ninja Warrior" Competition--that I realized what it really meant to be strong. Powerful men and heros such as Makoto Nagano, Mr. Ninja Warrior, and Shunsuke Nagasaki acted as the catalyst to spark my desire to compete in Ninja Warrior, and so I immediately began my training.

As I mention in the video, my goal is to compete in the SPRING, 2009 Ninja Warrior Competition (in March of 2009), and I've trained hard for it. Of course, I'll continue my training, always progressing in strength, speed, agility, endurance, and flexibility, and I'll do my best to create small videos such as this one to chart my progression.

By the time I submit my G4 American Ninja Warrior Challenge Video (right around December, 2008 / January, 2009), I hope you'll all watch and vote for me. With your votes and with your support, I'll have the opportunity to travel to Japan and represent the American People in Sasuke's 22nd Season. However, I have no intention of simply going and competing and having a good time. I'm going to win! I'm going to become the first true American Ninja Warrior, by conquering all four stages and ascending to the summit of Mount Midoriyama!

Please continue to watch my videos. As time goes on, the videos will become more and more impressive. I promise you that.

Thanks for watching and for your support. If you leave a comment, please leave one of support and encouragement. Nobody likes receiving comments intended to ridicule and tear down one's dreams.

  • Is it all about arms or stomach or both ??

  • I'd say both. Having the weight of your entire body suspended outward places a great deal of strain on your arms and shoulders. And, naturally, you need to have a very strong core, as well. If your arms are strong enough to hold your entire body weight suspended outward and your core is strong enough to hold the weight of your legs suspended outward, you're then strong enough to do Human Flags. I guess the best way to find out is to go try it for yourself. Good luck.

  • good job jake, you have very impresive upper body strength, please i want more video's

  • Don't worry, Bryan. More are soon on their way.

  • Fascinating.

    As all your others videos.

PS: Are you sure that you are human? ;-)

  • Human, huh? I think so. Maybe.

Thanks for the comment and the p.s. note--which I thought was hilarious.

  • nice, you don't see many people doing both right and left sides.

  • Hm. Do a video that shows what kind of exercises that helps to do the flag. That would be great :)

  • whats the song called?

  • Wow! Excellent. Now... how you train to get to this point? I would love to try, but I have noticed that although in fairly good shape.. I am still weak, I guess, in my oblique muscles....so the question is How do you train the obliques in a way to get really strong in the mid section? Any suggestions? Thank you for this great upload. So...this request is pretty much the same as "KraayZeeEyez". All the best!!! :)

  • man this looks intense and i want to try it, but what can i expect for my top arm, am i pulling up on it, or pushing out, or what? can someone give me advice?

  • so you need a very strong core and strong arms?

  • @Saepokegai First of all: You're an idiot.

Secondly: Yes, in history ninjas fought side by side with Samurai they were not simply assassins.

Third: It's a show called Ninja Warrior, get your head out of your ass.

  • i can do with my .......

  • Nice training, but your facts about ninjas are wrong. First of all; ninjas don't do trainings like what you demonstrated and second; ninjas are not warriors, they're assassins.

  • That was amazing bro keep up the good work! You have just encouraged me to try that so I will be sending you my medical bills lol

  • So is this guy going on Ninja Warrior or what?
