  • I really found the beginning about polynominals really helpful but I had a question as I'm not sure if I didn't understand it or whether it was a mistake (as others have pointed some out):

@4:54 you subtracted nothing from 3x^3 and got 3x^2?

  • @ruizucool as pointed out, yes a slip on my part.

  • I would really like to make a positive comment to help you

  • What grade A/AS level is this? It was mainly just simplifying and expanding standard equations. I was expecting it to go onto something a bit more complicated like expanding (x+3)^5.

  • This is the start of the lesson. The full lesson would move on to algebra as you suggest. mathstutor.

  • in the equation 7y^2(6y+8) when you multiplied it out shouldn't it of been

    42y^3+56y^2

  • everyone makes mistakes, appreciate him.

  • 'So, 5x^4 + 3x^3 + 7x^2 + x - 1. Another example...'

I stopped and thought 'Jesus, is that it?' xD

  • @TheClimbinExperience I have to agree (being English). When I was at school (many years ago) we learnt this stuff at age 14-16 for O-Level Maths, not A-Level (age 16-18). I looked at A-Level syllabuses about 18 months ago - at least 50% of the content are things we did at O-Level 25 years ago, and most of the rest was *basic* calculus that would take a reasonably intelligent person 2-3 weeks to learn. And people say there is no dumbing-down of A-levels...

  • @mathstutorbiz - comparing 1:23 and 1:41 you added the 6X^2, but then took away the 3X^2, then at 1:50 you added 3X^3, why did you take away 3X^2, how did you know to add the 3X^3, I'm not clear on how to tell which sign to use between polynomials in the sum, please help me?

  • If anyone is interested, I also do A level maths on my channel for specifically UK students

  • helpful video but shame about all the mistakes - very confusing for people trying to learn!

  • @nishy0895 no fella 7x was right. -x - -8x = +7x. remember he added the + sign to make it easier (apparently) however i see how this can make it more confusing

  • You're doing a fantastic job! I am currently a GCSE student, I am on A grades. I was very worried about my AS-Level Maths in the future, as well as my Chemistry and Biology. But I find it very easy, I know all of this already, I don't know how, because this subject isn't in GCSE. Anyway, I want to get A's in my A-Levels; I want to go into Medicine. So far so good. A's all around in my GCSE's cannot wait in till I get into A-Level!

  • visit wordhacker{dot}co{dot}uk we have all the coursework you need A-As level/gcse/university and btec

  • You know at 6:12 you done -x + - 8x and got 7x aint it meant to be -9x because -1x+-8 is -9 because ur taking away?? need to make sure because otherwise i wouldn't be learning..
