@tjmady I agree it cuts to the very core of what existence is and means

What an extraordinary film.

@MrStillmans Didn't you get that Max was fucked up, and wasn't going to return to earth the easy way --- with a bunch of professional therapy and the like. He completed the cycle --- saved and was saved. A full human.

@TeamNutshell Henryk Gorecki Symphony #3 aka Symphony of Sorrowful Songs. That piece alone is devastating enough --- then to get this scene. Incredible. Yet I believe.

wow what a great movie!! one of the few great movies about human mind and emotions. It sits right next to Deer Hunter side by side.
-
honestly i don't get it- not a good film to me.

@Monty22001 I thought Master and Commander was a Ridley Scott movie, but I was wrong! You do wonder why PW hasn't become a household name - so many brilliant and watchable films, with a great range of subject material. Easily my favourite director: varied, yet consistently interesting, with stories that stay with you.

@kwamemali The last strawberry is very symbolic. There was a reference to forbidden fruit at the start and we have watched him eat them with no reaction during the film. During this time, he believed he was invulnerable. He became detached, and isolated from his family. It was his friendship with Perez that allowed him to feel love and connect to the real world and thus, feel vulnerable once again when that love was not reciprocated. He has now come full circle and the love of his wife saves him
