Governor Bob McDonnell delivered his first State of the Commonwealth address on January 18, 2010, to a joint session of the Virginia General Assembly at the historic state capitol in Richmond, Virginia.
@brownocasio I don't envy Governor McDonnell. Imagine justifying the funding for all these programs when thousands more don't have jobs let alone funding for healthcare. I think the governor has his priorities straight. I, personally really can't simpathize with a teacher that makes up to $65,000 when I can't even earn half that for myself and my family working 50+ hours a week. It isn't about covering a shortfall it's about getting my out of work cousin a job.
Gov. McDonnell recommends cutting $730 million dollars in K-12 Education Quality programs, $550 in State retirement programs, Reducing health insurance for teachers and Cutting millions of dollars in aid to families and poor people. Thousands will be without work or benefits rather than make moderate increases in State tax to cover the 4 billion plus budget shortfall. Thoughtful!
I'm proud to have Bob McDonnell as my Governor. He's right to direct economic development efforts to those portions of the state (especially the southwest) that are hurting. Northern Virginia doesn't need any help from the state government attracting new business.
@mrbb33 The the problem is that you seem new to the act of thinking. Your entry is just another irrelevant tea bagger comment until the end where you imagined right.
Masters thesis of Bob McDonnell. McDonnell argued, among other things, that working women and feminists are "detrimental" to the family; that government policy should favor married couples over "cohabitators, homosexuals or fornicators;" and that the court decision legalizing the use of contraception by unmarried couples was "illogical," because at the time non-marital sex was itself a crime." written when McDonnell was already a married man 34 years old.
Good, the fallacy of a space god should not be part of our county's education system. When santa clause is ready to go, the rest of the fairy tales should also be removed from the classroom. Threatening children with hell, fire, and brimstone should also be made illegal. Wars are almost always over religious beliefs.
Just the Idea you would trust the republican party over the Democratic party when it comes to improving education in American shows where we should start improving our schools. Smart teachers make smart graduates, and you know the rest.
