King James version says

Gen 3:1  Now the SERPENT was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.

It was the serpent that spoke to eve.

revelation 6:9 says, "I saw under the alter the souls........." You can see them. verses 10-11 say, "and they cried with a loud voice,saying,How long, O Lord, holy and true,dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them......." Do you see that? "fine linens the rightousness of saints"(rev.19:8)

Good point jcharri, you could see the souls!!

The immortal souls fallacy decribes an invisible spirit that returns to God but as you have pointed out,these souls can BE SEEN.

You also left out the important part in v9

i think he's right, the bible doesn't distinguish between the body and the soul, the way the dualistic greeks and persians do. jews and christians believe the soul dies with the body, and christians believe both soul and body will be resurrected at some point. many catholics, such as saint augustine, were nonetheless heavily influenced by persian and greek thought, such as the prophet mani and the philosopher plato.

Thank you so much for this eye-opening video. I too don't believe in the pagan doctrine of th immortality of the soul. However there are those opposed to this doctrine by quoting from Scriptures and I'm having a hard time defending My belief. Isn't soul most all of the time " the seat of the heart". Its your mind. Spirit is our breath or not dead state. By the way in acts and mat god has a soul. He "is" spirit but he "has" a soul, or heart/mind. Hope that helps.

Many people like to think they are like the Trinitarian God the Son who was impassible and immortal housed in a mortal body. And so they believe they are impassible immortal souls who cannot themselves become dead. They are only in a mortal body which can become dead and they themselves are immortal souls.

Since we're talking about souls vs spirits, may I ask what your interpretation of 'ghosts' are? If souls are men in flesh and not in some transparent 'spirit' living in a body, are 'ghosts' not dead people's souls? What are they? Demons? What are 'demons'?

This question, of course, will seem silly if you don't believe in ghosts! But I hope you'll humor me, you seem to be a very intelligent man!
