I am driving the Gumpert Apollo S at the Top Gear Test Track on Forza Motorsport 4.

It may have an idiotic name but the performance figures are head-altering great, I like that way. It was based on the first car from Gumpert and it comes with the best aerodynamics for a car that is track-ready and road-legal. The engine that powers it was a 4.2L Audi V8 sourced from the R8 but it was fitted with twin turbos, capable of unleashing 700HP of power, all wrapped up in featherweight carbon fiber. It set a Nurburgring Lap Time of 7:11.57.

The fastest version, the Apollo Race, has 850HP, but if you pass your driving test, Gumpert provided an entry level Apollo that provides 650HP of power.

The interior of the Apollo has some bits from Audi and the rear view camera was a necessity because it doesn't have a rear mirror. There is a knob that can adjust the Apollo's traction control and the suspension system is adjustable but they're not nearly a necessity for the driver. The seats for the Apollo are not adjustable because the folks from Gumpert had it from drivers moving their seats resulting to imperfect weight distribution. For easy access, the steering wheel is detachable.

The Gumpert Apollo has a very impressive downforce, making handling a bit more easy.

Richard Hammond reviewed this on Top Gear and with Stig behind the wheel, the 1:17.1 lap time trounced the likes of the Ascari A10 and the Koenigsegg CCX with TG wing. That's one lap record smashed, quite literally...
