I spent almost 4 years living in San Diego during college and know that I acquired this blasted San Diego accent. I'm living in New York now, hopefully that will rub off on me. lol

It takes practice to get matching stuff. I'm good at both, but mixing them together or getting the right kinds of drums and melody for one song is pretty difficult. It's mainly a matter of finding the right type of sounds though, just like with a painting you're not going to use colors that don't fit the overall color scheme.
