SDI was a massive waste of money. Even if we were to use modern computers which vastly outpace the ones made in the 80's, they would not be capable of accurately targeting nuclear missiles, and could easily be distracted by launching several decoy projectiles.

I remember the left wingnut media mocked him big time for his vision, yet with each year... we continue to make this type of defense system better and better.

He was truly ahead of his time.

Okay, so what Reagan is saying, is, that we could reduce nuclear arms, only if it were possible sometime in the future, but not at any time in the foreseen immediate future. Nuclear weapons is our power and to continue to build upon them for our security and power. Then one day maybe? when we've overpowered other nuclear countries we could maybe disarm and only then. So what Obama is doing is the opposite of what Reagan is talking about because we have enemies right now nuclear to destroy us.

It's a lot worse nowadays that we are aware of nukes being held by terrorist states.
