Correct. Actually, the defense could have sacked the center as well. Once the center stood up holding the ball coming out of his stance, the play clock stopped and the play began.

So in essence the defense could have sacked him as he was walking

The center did a side snap. If the defense coach wasnt stupid he would see the delay clock stop and the game timer going...

@ColdAsHe11 It's called a sidesnap. I played center for 10 years. Legal every year I ever played, so the ref made the right call in not blowing the flag.
Defense is supposed to be trained to explode the second they see a player or ball move. The second the center stood up with the ball to side snap it, the defense should have been all over them. Just bad defensive coaching is all.
