@1960markN Origionally it was simply called the "Dulcimer". The term Hammer or Hammered was added when the "Mountain Dulcimer" suddenly became a popular folk instrument. In recent years "Hammered" has become more popular but the term "Hammer Dulcimer" is also an acceptable term.
