In Kenneth Oppel's prequel to Mary Shelley's classic novel, young Victor Frankenstein and his twin brother Konrad discover The Dark Library through a hidden passageway in their palatial chateau.

Filled with ancient tomes containing forbidden knowledge written in strange languages, their father makes them promise never to visit the library again. But when Konrad becomes deathly ill, Victor knows he must find the book that contains the recipe for the legendary Elixir of Life.

Soon to be a major motion picture from the producers of Twilight!

  • Elizabeth should choose Victor instead of Konrad, Victor is more compatible with her!!

  • oh my god its going to be a MOVIE?!?!?!?! that just made my day :)

  • @Epixxin its obvious you didnt read Frankenstien, because the monster is actually konrad and his wife is elizabeth but victor tears her apart because she loves konrad and not him

  • konrad doesn't exist in the real frankenstein book though

  • @DerelictSandwich well technically they followed the books. So it wasnt there fault for the movies being trash; it was the books. Thats why I hope they'll make this one similar to the book

  • @DerelictSandwich its not as though they are directing the film, just producing it

  • @Cals1607 don't let that mar you opinion of the book; kenneth oppel's writing has nothing to do with the producers of a possible film option

  • @Cals1607 Thanks. There wasn't really a description before when I was last here.

  • @Supergordan64 read the description.

  • The story sounds great, but then the description killed any interest when they said the producers of Twilight were making the film.

  • This seems to be dark and unique tale by Kenneth Oppel, and it seems the author is taking a different approach to the story than his previous works. But I am a fan of the Airborn Series, and after seeing how that story turned out, this new book should still contain the charm, just in a more moody background. P.S. Wait, the producers of Twilight are the ones that will make this story into a movie in the possible future? You've go to be joking, as if the movie series wasn't bad enough..

  • I just finished reading this book and I absolutely loved it. I literally can not wait for the next one. I think I might die of impatience before it comes out. Then Victor would have to raise me from the dead so I can read it hahaha xD

  • Konrad dies :(

  • the book is amazing, although its a more gothic approach than his previous stories.

  • yea i bought from online and got it today awesome

  • what song is that i like it and im reading this book

  • the dude author person came 2 my school 2day and talked about this book I can't wait 2 reed it ps he's caniadian ;)

  • Hmmm, now this seems different than other books you have made. One that take place in more (what seems to be around the) medival era, and is a prequel to somebody elses book. Still, you haven't failed me thus far, so I will indeed go pick it up.

And apparently it's already going to be a movie? This I gotta see. But one last question, what was the book called that you are doing this as a prequel for? Is it the original Frakenstien?

  • Can not wait to read it!

  • Oh the music is incredible!
