The Greg Bear novel 'Blood Music' has a quote about communicating 'In the NA' If its not a reference to this then its one hell of a coincidence.

The NA could also been seen as the not available. another way to say this is the void. as this character is surrounded yet he feels pulled into the void for he is never alone and yet always alone. where. he . goes. into. the. not. availabe.

Joel Gibb: “NA” is like a variable like x, y or z so the song itself is sort of about meaning and its sort of rebelling against that because you don’t want to always be explaining, I dunno. I like having my songs speak for themselves and I also really like people interpreting them in their own ways.
