I almost set the Kitchen on fire while Drying Biodiesel. Unfortunatelly I couldn't catch the first fire (which was 3 times bigger than the one on the video) with my camera because I was too busy extinguishing it... but "luckily" the fire came back just after I turned it on.

If you are learning how to make Biodiesel (like me) my advice is: BUY A FIRE EXTINGUISHER FIRST!!!

  • Was this from you (scenedesmus) algae? it seems a lot for the 6 bottles.. more like 1 m^3...

  • @melrobRTF No, this biodiesel was made from used cooking vegetable oil. I haven't made any algae oil yet because I wasn't able to produce that much algae, and I don't have any machine to extract the oil either... but I'm working on it!

  • cool, are you spannish? =D

  • @melrobRTF In fact I'm from Argentina (at the bottom of South America). But I speak spanish like the people from spain.

  • Never dry biodiesel in an erlenmeyer because the water vapor condenses again against the glass. Better use a very wide and open container to maximize the vaporing area.
