What is the role of an Oscillator in a synthesizer? What are the basic wave forms? What are frequencies? There are lots of questions when it comes to constructing and deconstructing the sounds generated by synthesizers.   • That sine wave doesn't really look like a sine ;)

    Anyway, nice video, should give people some starters :)

    Anyone who is interested in the harmonic content of waves any further, take a look at your old math books and see Fourier Transformations.

  • the frequency is not from top to bottom, frequency is from top to bottom back to top. that initial waveform was also not a true sine wave, but for beginners this would help.
