The Senate has failed to advance a bill that would have extended the deadline to file for federal unemployment insurance through next year. This leaves some two million unemployed Americans without jobless benefits after this month. The White House, meanwhile, has signaled it's willing to compromise on Republican demands to preserve the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. Democracy Now! speaks to the Reverend Jesse Jackson, who says describes our current moment as one of "exceptional poverty" and is calling on President Obama to hold a bipartisan meeting on hunger and poverty.

  • 8 years of Bush, Cheney & their Repub cronies self-serving dealings ended decades of prosperity and growth for middle America. Only a gullible fool would believe that putting the GOP back in the Executive branch will improve anything for the middle / lower classes. I'm not much happier with the Dems but at east they aren't stabbing us in the back while lying to our faces.

  • @scotty -- what are you going to do about the past..? I didn't and still do not support the either party but each party has issue that I believe each & every American care about. It is this the two-party system is why America is in the state that it is.. The intentionally divide We The People.. and make it about self-interest voting rather than national interest voting.. and the media are just as bad as the policitians.. the feed this self interest & all have been bought & paid for.. very s

  • @NeedAJobUSA You support the republicans? What about those 8yrs of bush? All that was a good thing?

  • @sjcpal .. I would rather have a party looking out for legal, American citizens that were successful (it could be that you are married, both Dr.'s or in another high paying profession that took years of school & huge education investments..) and make $150K each.. this is not uncommon in America & it makes no sense to punish these people by taking HALF of their income because of the sacrifices THEY made. Media is no better than both political parties - ALL bought & paid for by special interests.

  • @NeedAJobUSA Pay attention son , the Repubs have been killing jobs since the election of Barrack Obama ..They make no bones about it , say no to everything , make the Dems look bad so they can tell the sheep,"look what the Dems' did?"

NOTHING, but you have to realize in a democracy of two parties , when one party says no to everything voted on you cannot get anything passed ......If I were Pres....I would point out the idiocy of their arguments and do a few Executive Orders on their Asses

  • no jobs and no unemployment now what do you think will happen ? I've looked for a job for 2 yrs and I' ve never seen an economy like this.

  • Healthcare.. ahh.. sure you will NOT see this lil' bit of info on this chanel.. SEIU-- major backers/funding for OBAMACARE to get passed.. well, becaues of the 26 y/old new law for keeping kids on your plan.. SEIU told their employees this week they are canceling ALL the employees children w/benefits on their plans.. (cannot afford.. ) LEAVING to the STATES to pay via MEDICAID= TAXPAYERS .. ..

  • @sjcpal - How are the Democrats helping the unemployed..? Look that their involvment/sponsorship to get the Dream Act passed compared to the unemployed..? They want to create a dependent voter base.. they will give you check in the short term meanwhile adding 2+ Million (God only know the REAL number) of illegal immigrants to the workforce to COMPETE with you.. young, lower salaries and benefit costs.. avg unemployed worker is 40 y/old - they way PERMANENT displacement and dependency.. please re

  • @sjcpal To late, these J/Os are going to flush us down the toilet. Stock up on food, depression is comming.
