"We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are cremated equal". Pretty scary stuff. Gotta be one of the earliest protest songs about the atom bomb, here performed by Ozie Waters. I wonder how the McCarthy folks viewed this tune...? I did some research and discovered Ozie Waters made cowboy movies in the 1930's up until 1950, then nothing. Don't suppose he was black-listed? There's probably a good story behind this. Enjoy!

  • @alnuts888 No

  • This might have been better received if it were hip h.opped

  • @megaplayah it actually is via a mod

  • Thanks for making this record available. I have known for some time that this song was the work of Vern Partlow (1910-1987), a distant cousin of mine, and I have always wanted to hear it played. Very witting and biting in its commentary.

  • this should have been in fallout new vegas

  • Google "conelrad atomic cafe" for info about an obscure LP containing this and about 15 other similar atomic hits from the 50s... Its great background music when playing Fallout3!

  • @Longstreet77 rofl!

  • @7677890 McCarthy was right.

  • Ozie Waters was a Colorado musician in the 1940's and 1950's. His band the Colorado Rangers played at the first Elizabeth Colorado Stampede Rodeo dance in 1952. He also had a TV show for children that aired in the early 50's.

If you goggle him there is several articles about him, and he also was in many B Westerns of the time.

This song was banned from the radio in 1950.

I found him interesting because my band the Calf Branders played during the Elizabeth Rodeo in 2009.
