This is our submission for Coldplay.com's "Lost?" music video competition..
Filmed and directed by Andy Hubright and Brandon Quevedo
Intepretation/philosophy: Lyrically speaking, this song is very broadly stroked, and as such lends itself to have various possible meanings, but here is what we envisioned... Reading the Rolling Stone interview of Chris Martin helped out a lot in coming up with a general direction for this song, as well as Jay-Z's added 2 cents on the new EP, "Prospekt's March" (assuming his lyrics are meant to be cohesive with Martin's) We saw this song as a struggle with identity. The line "I'm just waitin till the shine wears off" could be talking about Martin feeling that he is waiting for everyone to figure out that he's just a normal guy, for all the glitz and glamour to wear off, and "along may come a bigger one" (a bigger band, that is) "every gun you ever held went off" could be referring to the critics, always firing negatively... and going down this road further, I think the song also deals with Martin and the band's struggle for new identity after the release of X&Y... regardless of the true meaning, what we came away with was a sense of trying to find one's true self, a struggle for identity and not giving up or giving in to what the world around you expects.. thus, the only clear face you see is that of the guy tied up, the "true self" which is being restrained.. when you are at peace with yourself, you can be at peace with everything..
enjoy.
