Slogan for the Japan Year 2010 in Turkey"

The official slogan for the "Japan Year 2010 in Turkey" has been decided to be "Turkey and Japan are closer now".

The sentence reflects the two countries' determination to reinforce the friendship between them taking the opportunity of the Japan Year 2010 in Turkey.

This slogan will be used along with the logo in promoting the "Japan Year both in Turkey and Japan.

Turkey and Japan already enjoy very close relations, and both governments have been working closely together to make this year a memorable event. During the year, various events will be held in Japan with a view to further promoting Turkish culture and history in Japan, and offering the Japanese people opportunity to experience a flavor of Turkey in their hearts and minds.

Turkish and Japanese belong to the Altaic language family (not East-Asian or Indo-European) and are besides Asian people, Turanian peoples (not European), together with Hungarians, Finns, Turkic, Mongolians, Tungus-Manchu and Koreans.
