  • WHERE's the fifth part??

  • Columba and the king of the picts??geez it sounds like the story of Moses and the king of Egypt

  • they told this invader to piss off they were the native inhabitants of north britain Columba wasnt

  • Headhunting was a strong tradition amongst continental celts as they believed the head was the seat of the soul, interesting that it continued for so long among the Picts centuries after it had ended in Europe. Mind you, the Romans probably had something to do with that.

  • The Picts were the early Scots

  • @EllaEla8888 It probably it is not possible - and wont happen for a long time. However I am in favour of something along the French model where there is no official religion and no religion in schools etc. Indeed religion needs to be treated as any other soclal club.

I personally see religion as a source of much evil, having said that many good people are religious too.

I am for tolerance. Let people do what they want - as long as it does not effect others + there lies the problem!!

  • @alanheath But do you think thats possible? A atheist society? Personally i think religion is not simply a precivilized custom that needs to be disposed of in the wake of modernisation. Believing in higher forces is part of human nature. There will always be things we cannot explain by ratio. In how far it is desirable to have an atheist society is of course a whole other matter :)

  • @EllaEla8888 If you want my opinion, atheism has to be the end result as it shows a society which does not need superstition but we have not got to that yet.

I do find it a bit hard to believe that if I am happily worshipping the sun, trees and animals and a long haired, evangelist turns up that I am not going to stop praying to my current gods. However maybe Colomba was a good salesperson. In any case no evidence of force being used.

  • Picts "stubbornly clung to their pagan believes"

    ????

Christianity has to be the endresult in order to count as a full cultural entidy?

  • Oh I didn't see what you wrote! Aye I'd like the complete video please!
