  • We bail out the rich banks for a trillion, other countries another trillion, wars another trillion, Corp welfare turns to huge bonus while your jobs ship over seas.

It's time we start investing our tax $'s into the heart of this country, it's people.

If a house wife was seen as a hard workin' contributor to the family and to this countries future and compensated as such, think of the jobs that would open as many returned home and think of how the extra income would jump start our economy.

  • The wealthiest got rich by bribing your law makers into letting them steel your natural resources for peanuts, after sucking the resources dry while paying you peanuts they then dump the clean-up into the tax payers laps. Let not forget the tax dollars they suck up while the economy is down, begging for investment tax breaks, incentive tax breaks, capital gains tax breaks and the list goes on. In essence, their corporate welfare is just another way of cutting your wage by steeling your tax $'s.

  • @nick1706

it's possible that communism/socialism might work well in quebec, but it would be a complete disaster in the USA

  • What do the people who take entitlements owe us, the people who work to pay for their intrasigence? They owe us to work hard to GET OFF entitlements altogether, not create generations of professional takers. Being a professional taker is a full time job they need to quit. We DO NOT owe a group of people free health care or a free education. They owe US to not be takers. Period.

  • Doesn't this professor woman understand that government can give only what government takes? If it takes more and more of my $ I have less incentive to work and the tax base shrinks. If I don't work at all someone else is supposed to pay for me? It sounds to me like she is confused about rights. What happened to the right to the fruits of ones own labor? How can it belong to anyone else but me? Government is supposed to protect my rights not destroy them. Higher ed. really sucks in the USA.

  • Why does bill-o claim health care is so expensive? I havent seen a doctor in 5 years

  • respect so many Americans seem to have at present for knowledge, and the pursuit of knowledge, at the fundamental level. Instead of taking the time to understand the issues, we get all upset on talking points made by politicians who know the hot buttons of the masses. So if someone has taken the time to really study the issue at hand, we should spend more time thinking about (but not necessarily accepting) the ideas that such people provide. Seems it's easier just to yell about "socialism"...

  • @Mikeonyoutuification I'm not an economist or political scientist. And unless you are too, unleashing our visceral reactions towards what are, to most, relatively vacuous numbers- representing, for example, the national debt, or tax rates- is pointless. But personally, take Quebec for example: we have some of the highest tax rates in North America. And despite American propaganda to the contrary, we do NOT have Big Brother at the door. But I digress. My point was simply dismay at the lack of

  • @nick1706 This has nothing to do with the bible. It has to do with the constitution and our rights. As she said in the beginning, we are entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of hapiness. This does not mean the government must give you something. First off, the government doesn't have anything. For them to give you anything, they would have to take away from someone else. The top 1% already pay 40% of the taxes. How much more do you think they should pay?

  • It's amazing the anti-intellectual rhetoric that spews from the computers of all these Youtube watchers. Who cares where she came from? Would you prefer had she studied at bible college instead? O'Reilly reflects this attitude perfectly: "You have a Ph.D. in political science? So what? I'M Bill O'Reilly!" If she put in the work to attain a doctorate, her ideas are AT LEAST worth our the work of our attention. Maybe the rest of the developed world ISN'T crazy on this one?
