Professional development program for fashion entrepreneurs

Practicum: British Fashion -- 2 was organized by British Council, «Local Fashion» project and Garage Centre for Contemporary Culture on 1-2 April 2011. That was a 2-day program of events that aimed at professional development and building networks of European and Russian fashion entrepreneurs.

On 1 April 2011 during the whole day 12 European and Russian designers presented their fashion business cases in the format of public pitching, among them there were D.EFECT (Lithuania), Michaela Mazalanova (Slovakia), Fortytwo (Russia), Fashion Philosophy Fashion Week (Poland), m*faganel (Slovenia), Soulland (Denmark), R/H (Finland), Nadya Nurieva (Russia), Collaboration [Five five] (Russia), Mareunrol's (Latvia), Lisa Shahno (Russia), Kristian Steinberg (Estonia). The pitching panel included Toby Meadows (Centre for Fashion Enterprise), Janine Passley (E8IGHT), Amelia Gregory (Amelia Magazine), Clare Lopeman (British Higher School of Design in Moscow), Michael Salac (PR Blow).

On 2 April 2011 all day long UK experts shared their experience of working in the fashion industry, and young designers had a chance to discuss their most acute issues and gain useful knowledge from established professionals.

On the 3d of April 2011 in the framework of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia Moscow hosted the catwalk shows of 3 UK designers - James Long, Louise Gray and Marios Schwab - supported by the British Council, the British Embassy in Moscow and Fashion East. The joint project run by the British Council and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia showcased the latest collections of the recognized UK designers discovered by the programme Fashion East some time ago. Lulu Kennedy, Director of Fashion East, visited Moscow on this occasion.
