Sunday, August 7, 2011, was a sunny afternoon to take a stroll along Bowker Creek in Oak Bay and talk with artists and other members of the community. It was evident the overall strength of this seventh annual art exhibition lay in the familial community focus with passers-by encouraged to participate in group projects and discover the natural joy of making mark openly.

Vancouver Island Style Magazine is proud to bring you a lovely Art event that takes place in Oak Bay every year - The Bowker Creek Brush Off Art Show and Sale.
In one area Brenda Jacques over saw a canvas and encourage anyone and everyone to paint on provided stamp materials (bits of screen and embossed wallpaper and the like) from a selection of colours provided on a fairly large canvas to create a unique communal piece. Creators were then asked to sign the 'artists' book'. The art work made from this process last year has toured the community and was on display to be silent auctioned off by the end of the days proceedings which is a wonderful experience for everyone involved. if you want to participate in a group piece and are perhaps too timid to make one solo (and also if you are not too timid but want to join the fun)...next year you have the opportunity for purchasing something you have helped to create. It also gives a little money towards the organization of this event.
