Audrey Westchester suffers from the debilitating condition Clostridium difficile, which attacks the bowel causing severe diarrhea that can be potentially fatal in the elderly and infirm. Finding a solution for C. difficile has posed a challenge to physicians for decades because antibiotics tend to intensify diarrhea in sufferers. But Audrey has found a solution to her problem: an accompanying course of the probiotic Florastor (Saccharomyces boulardii from Biocodex), which restores the flora balance in the gut. For Audrey, this proved a lifesaver: she finished her antibiotics course and treated her C. difficile without the added complications of antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
