What hurts...: Golf Elbow.

How you hurt it...: Working with hand tools and playing golf.

When you hurt it...: About three years ago.

Your pain level (1 is low, 10 is high pain): 4 two days after a round of golf.

Your age and overall health...: 71 and in a very good health.

Any other information you feel is relevant...: I had some treatment a while ago.

YOUR INJURY COULD BE...
Golfers Elbow.

REHAB YOUR INJURY BY...
Icing: 15 minutes for 2 to 3 times per day, with at least one hour in-between.

Massage: Massage straight down and across the tendons that are sore in your elbow area. Use lotion to reduce 'sticking' on your skin.

Stretching: Straighten your elbow and pull your hand straight down. Hold the stretch for 15 seconds and release - do this 3 times. Go to the point of pain and not beyond - more is not necessarily better.

Nerve Glide: With your arm straight, go out and back with your wrist extended and your fingers pointed back. Raise your arm up until you feel the nerve stretch up your arm, then lower your arm. Pump your arm up into the pain and then down out of the pain, about 10 to 15 times. As you pump more and more you should feel less pain.

  • Thank you for this video! The stretching and massaging have made my elbow feel so much better !! Also, would you recommend compression? Thanks again for the valuable video!

  • Yes, Compression will help as well. As far as the elbow goes the nerves are not very deep so make sure you do not apply the compression very tight. No numbness or tingling should be experienced at any time with use of compression.

    Be well,

    Kristin

  • This is great but it would be better next time not to wear a BLACK sweater against a BLACK background. Sort of hard to see.

  • hi, I tried all the exercises and stretching, and it seems like the pain is gone(as long as i don't lift heavy weights), but the elbow still doesn't look normal, the bone still isn't back on it's place, so my question is: is it possible to fix the elbow completely or it will never be the same?

  • Thanks I am trying the exercises etc gives me hope and something constructive to work with much appreciated.

  • hi there, will that nerve gliding exercise work for cubital tunnel syndrome as well?? thanks!

  • Hello, Ive had pain in my armpits for a while now. It gets worse when I lift weights. It feels like Im being stabbed when I flex the muscles. I get some relief from hanging from the bar. What is this?

I also get a bad pain in the shoulder area and follows by weakness. Sometimes the pain in my shoulders shoots up to my neck or down into my hands. This pain occurs more often when Im combing my hair or holding something up for more than 5 seconds. What is this?
