I played this Debussy's etude in a final round of a national piano competition. (2004)

  • Debussy etudes feared me so much but now, ever since I played the "Les tierces alternees" from Debussy's "Preludes--Livre II", I am starting to love this 8-finger etude. My suggestion is that this piece should be a teeny less "vite", to allow not only for the 6 glissandi, but also to allow you to play the 32nd-note "crossing-path" sextuplets in time. In the tetrachords, going against Debussy's suggestion, I use 4321 for the LH, and 1234 for the RH.
